The Second Sight - Part 3

Tonight, his rest would be peaceful, free of all worries of the red eyes.
But his night was not peaceful. A few hours into the night he felt hands on his neck. It was Liv strangulating him. The same feeling he felt when he first saw the red eyes kicked in, a deep and primal instinct to live.
The men tussled on the ground. But Cencia noticed too late, the blade in Liv's hands. Liv slashed Cencia across the eyes, blinding him.
"Queen's orders. She suspected you'd want to get out one day. She told me to return to you and make sure you never made it," confesses Liv.
"I had no intention of going to where I'm not wanted!" I just wanted to live." wails Cencia.
"I can not allow that," says Liv, backing away from Cencia's outstretched arms. He had begun to load his weapon, but he doesn't notice the steep cliff inches behind him. He slips and Cencia reacts far too late, but was aware of the cliff and figures the worst has occurred.
Now, blind and friendless. He is as hopeless as ever.

Cencia staggered on for the rest of the night.
He kept his hand along the mountainside, slowly but surely turning inward. Cool air exited the mountainside and so he decided to explore this opening further.
He heard echoing and splashing the further he went into the cave. Upon reaching the end, he was startled by a loud throaty bark that ricocheted its intensity along the dripping walls of the cave.

There within the cave, surrounded by the rest of the wolves, was Forsja Goddess of Foresight. She had once granted man, as all nature, the gift of foresight but man rarely used it. Man was far too rash and led by emotions for this. They rather rely on instinct than calm reasoning. She instead now lives within the forests, taking care of nature, allowing men to earn foresight on their own. Those lucky enough to be guided by the First Men she gifted, use foresight to lead other men or live their lives in whichever way they choose.

"Cencia, foolish child," bellowed Forsja "your innocence continues to impair you."
"How?" was all Cencia could manage.
"I sent my dear Red Eyes to protect you. Your time away from man has harmed you, you aren't wary enough. Your books never lied to you Cencia, but man will continue to do so."
Cencia was silent throughout her lesson, he once again felt like he knew nothing.
"And now I am blinded, and won't learn a thing about the real world."
Forsja placed her palms around Cencia's eyes and said
"I realized long ago that foresight is better earned than granted. Man lives amongst man and the rest of the world while gaining life's knowledge. Through interactions that cause fear, sadness, and joy a man can gather experience to assess his next choice and to "see" the future.
This is The Second Sight."
"A man like me has no experiences," said Cencia with an aching disappointment "the time to gather them has left me."
"I will grant to you physical sight once more, as well as the second sight. This is the first time I've done so since the First Men. It is best for experiences to be gathered through life but as your life has been stripped from you, it is only fair. I could not bear to see a man of your heart lose.
You have read about how the world works, now foresight will help you know how to choose what is right."
Men who use their forsight wisely have evolved the world.
Cencia was the last innocent; the last man granted foresight. With the experiences of 100 men now within him, he lived the rest of his life learning what he could and helping others.
